As reported by Motor Authority, Ford has filed a patent application for a method of charging electric cars by flat-towing them behind another vehicle.
The application also describes how the charging would adjust to a variety of load situations. For example, if the tow vehicle were going up a hill, the level of regeneration would be reduced to limit the load on the tow vehicle’s engine. Other factors, such as the speed of the tow vehicle, would also be relevant.
