A recent patent application by Amazon reportedly contemplates a system involving delivery vans carrying multiple drones. The delivery vans would carry items close to their destination and then drones would be directed to make the final delivery.
If Amazon's patent application reminds you of Optimus Prime's "Roller", then you're not alone. If it doesn't, then you probably weren't born in the early 1980s.
