As reported by Motor Trend, Ford has obtained a design patent for the exterior of the Transit Trail van in the United States.
This newest upgrade to the Ford Transit line was initially unveiled in the UK market in 2020 and Ford may be gearing it up for an entry into the North American market. While the new Transit Trail model may be making a US debut, the 2020 iteration of the smaller Ford Transit Connect does not appear on any of the company’s recent US patent filings.
Although the European model features a 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine, the US version is likely to come with either a 375 horsepower naturally aspirated V6 or a 310 horsepower twin turbo V6.
Despite obtaining the design patent, Ford has not yet confirmed the arrival of the new Transit Trail van in the US.
