Drake is Attempting to Trademark "God’s Plan"

October 16, 2018

--

As reported by TMZ, Canadian rapper, Drake, is attempting to secure the rights to the title of his hit song “God’s Plan” by filing a trademark application in the United States.

The filing is associated with goods and services typical for trademarks owned by musicians, such as clothing, videos, musical sound recordings, marketing and promotional content. However, Drake’s application also includes a television and internet game show, which begs the question: what is Drake’s plan with God’s Plan?

It comes as no surprise that Drake is trying to secure the rights to the phrase given the song’s immense success. In just five months, the music video for God’s Plan, which shows Drake giving away $1 million to fans, garnered over 774,000,000 views on YouTube.
