Ford, not Nissan, seeks SKYLINE trademark in United States

August 11, 2021

--

As reported by Motor Trend and Road and Track, Ford, not Nissan, has filed a trademark application for SKYLINE in association with motor vehicles in the United States.

Nissan has historically and famously used the SKYLINE mark on numerous sporty models in Japan and still uses the SKYLINE mark in Japan for its iconic sporting vehicles, including the Infiniti Q50.

Ford’s SKYLINE mark is listed as “1B” on the filing, or “intent-to-use”, which indicates that Ford should have “a bona fide intention to use [the] mark in commerce with [its] goods and/or services in the near future” (emphasis added). Time will tell if Ford uses the mark in the United States.
