As recently reported, Ford has filed a patent application for a system that uses a vehicle’s exterior camera to detect and scan passing billboards in order to route the data to the vehicle’s interior display screens, creating in-car versions of the advertisements.
The system would reportedly allow for more information to be displayed on the vehicle's interior screen than on the original billboard ad, including in the form of a direct call-to-action such as an invitation to visit an upcoming address or to call a phone number.
