As reported by GMAuthority, General Motors (“GM”) has filed an application to trademark "Future Roads" for its novel data platform project.
Future Roads is expected to be used to provide critical insights to government bodies to create better-maintained and safer roads. The platform will collect anonymized data from vehicles to provide “actionable insight”.
For now, GM’s data platform project is still undergoing its pilot stage. Once Future Roads officially launches, additional features such as pothole locations, road roughness, and road weather reporting are expected to be brought to scale, and released as early as next year.
GM’s "Future Roads" filing is part of the company’s broader focus on launching new digital businesses over the next years.
