Grand Theft Copyright Infringement? Musician Sues Rockstar Games

May 19, 2021

--

As reported by the Coast News, musician Shawn Lee has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against videogame publisher, Rockstar Games, for allegedly using a melody composed by him in its “Grand Theft Auto” games.

Lee had previously composed a soundtrack for the videogame publisher and alleges that the company appropriated elements from one of his songs in the popular games “N4” and “Grand Theft Auto 5.”

Specifically, Lee alleges that portions of his song “Biker Chick” are substantially similar to the videogame’s theme song, “Soviet Connection”. Rockstar Games reportedly did not provide a comment regarding the copyright infringement claim brought against it.
