As reported by IB Times, GSM Arena, Android Authority and Tech Radar, LG has recently been granted a US patent for a foldable smartphone design.
The device has a hinge with a four-link design allowing the phone to fold horizontally half way down, like a clamshell phone.
It does not appear that LG has yet filed for patent protection in Canada. While LG has not officially announced the release of a foldable smartphone, given that Samsung is rumoured to be releasing a foldable Galaxy X early next year, it might be sooner than we think.
