A legal dispute between football legend, Lionel Messi, and social media star, Logan Paul, over their competing sports drink brands has reportedly concluded. The matter was reportedly resolved after the parties filed a stipulation of dismissal in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The dispute emerged shortly after Messi launched his hydration beverage, Mas+ by Messi (“Mas+”).

Prime Hydration (“Prime”), the hydration and energy drink brand co-founded by Paul, responded by threatening litigation, claiming that Mas+ closely resembled Prime’s hydration and energy drinks.

With this looming threat of litigation, the owner of Mas+ filed a lawsuit, seeking a declaratory judgment that Mas+ was lawful and non-infringing. The lawsuit also urged the court to put an end to Primes’ alleged anticompetitive efforts to monopolize functional design features commonplace in the hydration beverage industry.

Prime subsequently countersued, asserting claims of trademark infringement and alleging that Mas+'s packaging and overall trade dress were confusing to consumers.

Although the settlement terms remain confidential, a spokesperson has reported that Messi and Paul reached a mutually agreeable resolution, effectively ending the dispute.
