Patented Parallel Parking: Ford Files Patent Application for Remote Park-Assist Key Fob

April 13, 2022

--

As recently reported by Ford Authority, Ford Motor Company has filed a patent application for key fobs with remote parking assistant functionality.

Ford currently offers parking assistant technology that requires varying degrees of effort from a driver. Ford's technology can essentially parallel park a vehicle for the driver, help a driver get out of tight parallel parking spots, and/or reverse-perpendicular park.

The new Ford patent application takes the technology a step further by moving the entire automated parking process to a key fob. Ford Authority notes this may be helpful in cases where, for example, a driver wants to see a tight parking spot while standing outside of their vehicle rather than from inside.
