A patent application by Ford was recently published describing technology that would allow users to rev their vehicle engines remotely.
The patent application describes an “input device operated by the user” that allows users to rev their engines “at various distances from the vehicle”, without having to push down on the accelerator.
Ford is pushing its traditional brand to meet consumer demand for innovative vehicle design. If the remote engine revving patent is approved and the technology is developed, it may be popular among vehicle owners who want to show off their car’s engine sounds at auto shows, without having to get inside the vehicle. The feature could be equally unpopular with the neighbours of car enthusiasts.
