Five trademarks were reportedly recently filed on behalf of the Royal Caribbean Group: “Category 6”, “Hurricane Hunter”, “Storm Surge”, “Pressure Drop” and “Storm Chasers”.
The trademark registrations state they are intended to cover the category of “cruise ship services”. As reported on Royal Caribbean’s blog, these could potentially be names for new water slides the group intends to roll out on its cruise ships.
These recent filings may be part of a broader push by Royal Caribbean to protect its intellectual property rights. In addition to filing trademarks for potential slide names, Royal Caribbean recently filed trademarks in respect of various other names it has been using for a number of years and registered 24 new cruise ship names.
