If you were a fan of 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie and were wondering what was going to happen in the sequel, then you have an unexpected new source for spoilers: SEGA’s own copyright filings.
As one Twitter user discovered while searching SEGA’s copyright filings for information about SEGA’s upcoming projects, SEGA has filed a copyright registration for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, complete with a short synopsis of the upcoming film. This short synopsis revealed that another of the iconic characters from the Sonic video game series would be joining Sonic and Tails on the big screen.
The incident serves as a reminder to the entertainment business that, as intellectual property filings are public, care should be taken when drafting them to prevent any accidental leaks of confidential information.
