A “Hooge” Trademark Infringement Lawsuit

August 11, 2022

--

As reported by Guardian, YouTube and Instagram skit creator and comedian, Oga Sabinus (also known as "Mr Funny"), who won the 2022 AMVCA for “Best Online Social Content Creator”, has threatened to sue Peak Milk for using his trademark phrase “Something hooge”, and UAC Food for using his cartoon likeness, in advertisements.

In the Peak Milk pre-suit notice, he demanded damages for intellectual property infringement as well as for emotional, physical, psychological, and mental trauma. The comedian claimed a subsidiary of Peak Milk, Friesland Food Wamco Nigerian PLC, used his trademarked slogan “Something Hooge” to advertise their product, Peak Milk.

In the UAC Food notice, he claimed that the company used his picture to create his cartoon likeness, which they used in advertisements for their sausage roll product without the comedian’s consent or authorization.
