As reported by World Intellectual Property Review, Rocky III and A-Team movie star, Mr. T, has settled a trademark infringement dispute with cannabis database Leafly. The US-based website allows users to review cannabis strains and dispensaries.
The suit, filed last year, claimed that Leafly infringed on Mr. T’s persona and likeness by listing the strain “Mr. Tusk” as “Mrt.” Mr. T requested an injunction to force Leafly to remove his name and likeness from its website.
In its defence, Leafly argued that Mr. T’s name is not trademarked and that no damages arose as a result of the listing of “Mrt.” on their database. Mr. T was not seeking monetary damages and the terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
