Potential Return of GM’s Buick Electra

March 14, 2022

--

As reported by Car and Driver and Uncrate, General Motors (“GM”) has filed a trademark for its Electra nameplate, which could be in anticipation of its re-vamped Buick Electra electric SUV release.

The original GM Electra was released in 1959 and subsequently retired over 30 years ago, but appears to be coming back to the market with some major upgrades. At the 2020 Beijing Auto Show, Buick revealed that its newest electric SUV would be packed with GM’s latest electric vehicle hardware, Ultium, and have a driving range of over 650 kilometres.

While not confirmed, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting pairing for the Electra nameplate than the Buick Electra.
