Forbes is reporting that a Portugal-based startup, Veniam, is amassing a significant patent portfolio related to connected vehicles.
Veniam has applied for 163 patents since late 2015 that relate to data distribution over a combination of Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and V2V networks. Veniam's hope is that, by providing the technology supporting an inter-connected network of vehicles, it can help to solve the future problem of autonomous vehicles that lose a direct signal. These vehicles can rely on nearby vehicles with a signal to maintain traffic flow (and passenger safety).
Veniam's CEO, João Barros, explains his vision for the internet of autonomous vehicles in the below video.
